I've never tried it but maybe you can use another uploading site, like tinypic, and link to that picture in the forum.

In any case you could make a frame around the edited picture and use that frame to explain you edited somebody elses picture and mentioning it is meant to support a forum topic and it hasn't to be rated nor commented.

Grtz

Thank you to every Woophy member who took time to comment on my picture. It’s good to have honest, helpful, criticism as an aid to better future picture-making. To avoid influencing the week’s discussion, I have kept my own responses until now. It has been fascinating to see what appeals / does not appeal to others. Although, as I’ve already said, it’s not a picture I would have chosen for this exercise, I am really happy with " the original ", as this reminds me of the occasion when it was taken, and am glad that devish, Dieuwertje Zazi bruha and Aline agree with me. At the same time, I can accept many others’ members’ views ( pansa, W.Z., etc. ) that it might have been better with more cropping. Thanks to members who took time to re-work my picture : although I still prefer my “ original ”, it’s been interesting to see how others approach the same subject.

The comments have illustrated, yet again, that the response to “ art ” is subjective. Corneel Timmermans found the picture too dark. In response to W.Z’s comment about the “ pirate’s “ colour, all I can say is that he actually was rather red-faced ( weather-beaten ? ) very much as my picture shows. I’m not sure that he was a Celt, as bruha suggests : I believe the ship, and its crew, came from Bristol. I hate to disillusion bruha, but the pirate was sitting on the ship’s deck : all he could see were day trippers who had paid to spend a few minutes standing there. Nor, as Aline appreciated, was it possible to have him “ pose ”.

I totally agree with soyoban, Dave Moore, bruha Paulo Calafate and Nivad’s point about the “ missing “ accordion. Perhaps because of its role in my memory of the day, I was really anxious to show it. In the event, I reluctantly had to crop most of it out to eliminate a piece of rope which crossed it just below the crop, and which, IMO, upset the composition. Pansa, however, thinks it should have been removed !

Now, it’s someone else’s turn : see -

Geoff.

P.S. I will now be removing Pansa’s two suggested improvements from my portfolio.
