It sure is a hard life,I just found out yesterday that a homeless guy who I almost daily met in the park in Rotterdam, was found dead in the shrubs. And I really think it is a shame in our country!

The current mayor of Nijmegen, but then alderman / woman for the socialist party (PvdA) in Amsterdam, said a few years ago that homeless people would not have to live on the street anymore before the end of the year. She didn't say before the end of what year.....
I agree with Giz: it is a shame that in this country people still have to live on the street.
And there are more (rich) countries that should be ashamed.

Indeed it's sad. And I will vote, of course!
The first one was always one of my favourites, now for the other one it's the same! They're both great portraits!

THE HOMELESS ISSUE IS A VERY CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC. IT IS TRUE THAT SOME HOMELESS HAVE NOT BEEN LUCKY IN LIFE, BUT SOME OF THEM SIMPLY DON´T LIKE TO WORK OR DON´T LIKE TO BE "SYSTEM TIED"; AND FOR SOME, IT IS EASIER TO ASK FOR MONEY THAT EARN IT.
Like Mr. Give me more money.

Drunks, thiefs, or what ever... they are still people.
You ever asked yourself what makes a drunk or a thief?
I don't say that it is right what they do, but in some cases I can understand it.

Many of these people are bright and talented people. They are often on the streets because of mental disorders which cause their families to give up on them. Three days ago I picked my son up off of the street to give him one last chance. I have had a roof over my head for 3.5 out of the last 14 years. But, I am lucky. I have remained gainfully employed as an over the road trucker. I have lived in my truck. It gets old, but I have done this as a single parent to keep my children in safe and secure places. This child has been diagnosed with ADHD, low I.Q., and an authority defiance disorder. So, he has been a problem. But, he is scared now, and wanting to change. With me - he gets one last chance. The problem with social programs is that they are adictive. They are adictive for those who use them. And, they are adictive to those LAZY government workers who live off the public dole. Socialism sucks. Get Over It![img][/img]

Keep it up Keith - I know live is not easy for all of us. It is easy however to judge people.
I know, because I do that myself a lot. :-))
That is unfair, I know, but he... I am just human.

It's always hard to see people suffer on the streets. In China lots of elderly people are forced to beg because they have no income and no children to support them.
This lovely old woman was begging for a cookie when my daughter went past her. She got the bag and didn't have to look in trash cans for that single moment.

John is right. And we have to remember to take care of each other as much as we can. Not simple or easy, but try to do what we can for the people we meet up with in our everyday lives.
