Erwin - people will never learn. There will never be peace on earth, there will allways be people that want to have more AND more then others, etc.
And animals are food if they are not pets.
We can all dream of a better world, but unless a miracle will happen, this is the world we live in.
People don't change - only circumstances.
(I am not a pessimist. I just like to look at the world as it is.)

I am I glad I am vegetarian....
I have visiting the zoo a lot lately..Made great shots, but it makes me really almost cry if I see those animals stay their whole life after these fence and iron bars...
Maybe not a very clear picture, but this is really what I saw :
Forced to stay in jail without knowing WHY! Thats ugly and cruel in my eyes...

Dear friends
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and photos.
Although we always try to take brilliant photos! but title of this forum is "The good, the bad and the ugly" and I thought all of us, in spite of our tendency, have taken photos that are not that good and can be categorized as bad or even ugly photos. (I also believe that a photo can be ugly but good!)
Anyway, this forum was not supposed to be just about “animals” or their dead bodies. This world is full of good, bad and ugly scenes so let's take another look at our files and see what we can find.
I’ll do that too

Hi Peyman,
I guess the problem was that we thought your photo *wasn't* ugly, only the subject matter. So we got diverted. I'm afraid to put my ugly photos on Woophy! (not really, some of them are). If we approached this topic in a spirit of fun we probably would have found very different results. Maybe try again, with BAD photos as the subject of the topic. Hopefully we will only self-nomiinate :)

For some of us slaughtering animals appears cruel and "ugly". But I've been a vegeterian for over 13 years, before I went to Uganda. After a certain time just eating maize-porridge, beans, gnuts and fruits I couldn't stay it any longer. So at the end I was quite happy that I (surprisingly) started enjoying meat, didn't matter how the meat was prepared:
Those pictures aren't "ugly". Imho it's daily life and most important: It's food on which the people are depended.
There are much more things we should think about, which are really ugly, like....
