Do you really think that it is " be good " to show this kind of pics on Woophy ?
That could be the subject of a forthcoming topic.
Good night however !

Ugly?? Shocking?? This is how people in the cuntryside get there meat on the tabe.
The picture is OK, nice soft light. The sheep looks peacefully to the world. If one can say that about a sheeps head. it's only a pitty that the left side of the dish was cropped.

I agree with Ron G.
How do you think YOU all get your meat on the table?

There's more to see when you look further than city boundries.
This is Ireland, it could be any hilly place. ;-)

The pic shows a part of live that most people don't like to see, but it is still part of live. We know that every cow, pig of sheep we see on pics goes to the slaughterhouse once (except the holy cows in India). There are pics on Woophy of a pigshead on a marketplace before .

I agree with what Akbar is saying, we don't like seeing bad things, but they are also a part of life. If we like it or not, each country has his own lifestile.

For me the worst are the 2 last one with dogs for sale to be eaten in China. But it's also an european or french reaction. This is not our culture... Do you know the type of food I found very disgusting in France : snails... I have no photo to illustrate, but beurk, beurk, beurk, and this is a great thing in french gastronomy, but eating this slobbery slug!!!!!!

One man's locust is another man's shrimp, puppy is a lamb...we have customs that are hard to break once they are ingrained. For many Europeans/Americans the idea of eating a house animal is diffficult to swallow (sorry for the pun). If we didn'tt see them as cute little puppies we might not feel the same way. Or if we'd ever been hungry enough to eat one. Some people stop eating animals entirely (I haven't though) because they can't reconcile the problem.
I ate a bug once by accident (I was a kid at the time and it flew into my mouth!). I still remember how unbelievably delicious it was, but I can't even consider eating one now. It's a limitation, but it's really difficult to go beyond.
For me the hardest picture in this lot is ortho158s of the cat with garbage, and I think I 've got a big taboo on that one because it can lead to disease. But, the cat seems grateful. And I don't like the chickens packed together, either... although it's certainly not an ugly photo.
Ugly scenes we haven't shared in this forum are 10 year old kids who clean train bathrooms from Laura Liscanzos Mora --the children are beautiful and have dignity through her superb work; but the issues the photos present are a bigger problem for me than these icky food shots.

For me it's a bigger problem too Scarlet, I totally agree with you. The pics in this topic are terrible for vegetarians and maybe meateaters lost there appetite but we should never forget that there are people in this world, who have to live like slaves and who have no rights at all.

Ethic lacks everywhere. It includes human right, respect for animals and nature in general, the saving of our earth for our grandchildren and an economy where ethical principles are not simply passed over (what much to often happens).
I like this topic very much, it stirs our conscience and forces to thinking.
Thank you for all your contributions to which I absolutely agree.
