I like the idea of David Moore of the fictious island in the Atlantic ocean. A kind of Atlantis. A nice place for the cats and dogs. And I would appreciate Kaatjeseye if you could stick to comments that are relevant for the topic. Who cares whether Pansa is Santa Claus or Djenzis Khan.

It exists a photographers site, which is organised with :
- a site for relevant pictures about representation of a place (landscape, street scenes, etc)
- a site for nature pictures
- a site for miscellaneous pictures
The 3 sites have the same conception, and it exists automatic link from one to the other.
The rules are totally respected by the members.

Also on this site : Only one picture per day allowed, no rate without comment,
no top list members, etc... (All the requests often expressed by Woophy's members in the forums and more)
All these points help a lot for a good level of quality and mutual respect.

Why not for Woophy too ? It could be great ... On my mind, Woophy deserves that !

Aline, I think Woophy is Woophy, with all the good and the bad things. Why change it into a site that allready excists? I love Woophy as it is, and I think we have mutual respect but that doesn't mean that certain things can be said.
@Carla,you are right Carla, and after rereading the topic you mentioned, it is relevant that fred=pansa.

@Paulo, my dog is Ramses and he is allready on Woophy :-)))))

@ Fred,I really have to agree with Carla that if you mention the topic, you also have to mention that you started that topic and walked away when nobody supported you there.

@Woophy members
I have erased the original message and link because it seems to trigger a polymic discussion with a particular Woophy member, which was not the purpose of it. Sorry for that. Best to my Woophy friends. BTW I like cats and dogs.

I have one side of me, the right side, that want to put my lovely cats on Woophy - thousands and thousands of pics - and another side, the left one, that don't allow me to upload photos of my beautiful animals ... and I am in this situation about 1 year ago. So, my dears Woophy members, if the right side win this terrible fight, you go to take with my cats and more cats, in all the positions, with excellent and poor sharpness, in B&W, with satured colors and with all the kind of backgrounds ... beside this my cat Ronron is very photogenic.

@Paulo, maybe you need a website JUST for your cats! :)

I will come there and rate ALL the photos red (love it) and black (technically good) and green (interesting) based on the new =rating scale devised by Drora and discussed in the rating topic started by Matz on 1/25.

:))

@ Giz : Dear Giz
It doesn't exist an "ideal" site, and I don't want to make Woophy something else in his main nature ! :-)
I just wanted to say some changes are possible... it is not an utopia.

I have seen a lot of wishes and requests made by numerous Woophy's members from several years, and so often the same..
And one day I have discovered several sites where almost all these functions already existing . It was a double surprised for me :

First, we had not invented these concepts, and secondly, some rules can be respected by a community of thousands of people.
It was a hope some things can evoluate .

i believe, while woophy is a great site and i feel most comfortable here, it suffers from two main things:

1. what is woophy all about? there is a kind of mission statement (showing the world) which however is not a real guideline for everyday use. is it about sharing pics like flickr for example? is it only about land- and citiscapes? is it about rating pictures? especially the "plain" sharing and rating are as i see it often a reason for conflicts. somehow the two do not go very well together without some rules.

2. the sheer number of pictures. i like woophy as it is basically and i do not want to change it into something different, but it is my belief drawn from my experience with other communities, that indeed some sort categorization is helpful. and in addition: an upload limit. what is so bad about lets say 10 pics a week? as i wrote before: i am still wondering how much server space woophy has since there are no limits for the numbers and the size of the pics. so it is not only an issue for liniting users but also for server space.
just my 2 cents

edit: oops., sorry, there is a size limit, but 2 MB are really generous ;-)

@Kaatjeseye

This is what Joris wrote when the forum started in 2005. IMO your uncalled for outbursts of slander and abusive words are in sharp contrast with the spirit that was asked for to participate in the Forum.

Pansa

The rules for this forum are pretty much the same rules as in daily life, be friendly, polite and relevant or else you will be thrown out.

Hope you enjoy

@fred and carla: i appreciate both of you, but may i ask you two to not carry out your feud in the forum? sorry, but i do not think it belongs here - and as with children: i don't care who started it ;-)

@Matz: you are right, I dont like it either but I dont like people who are lying about there identity even less. So this is the last thing Iam saying about it.

Thanks people for all the emails and the printscreen of the comment that Pansa (Fred Snijders) deleted.

To me... this is starting to look like a personal vendetta. I have to say that our dear friend pansa or whatever his name is, has a point. And he put it in a little bit aqward way but that still doesn't mean that he is wrong.
I also noticed that most Woophy members (me included) don't share his opinion. And while this is a photo forum and not political forum, let's close the subject.
Everybody made his point of view very clear so let's move on and...

I think of adapting this cat. Just to piss you all off
