The discussions about the advantages of the different picture-sharing-communities will always go on.

It is good to know other websites, because only those who have been away from home, know the advantage and the warm feeling of being at home again.

The warm and friendly atmosphere at woophy is unique and many comments and topics in the forum underline this.

Woophy is like a large family and it would be beautiful if that could remain that way. One knows each other, one thinks highly of each other and one is enjoyed to here from each other.

So woophy for me has the attributes: warm – friendly – familiar – small and therefore beautiful where as other communities often are: technical – large and impersonal.

The main asset of woophy are its members – that’s YOU – so be pride and tell us why you stay with us on OUR site.

Greetings

Erwin

Agree with ou Erwin. I've tried other picture sharing site, but without retrieving the friendly tone of Woophy, agree also with you when you said the other communities are often too technical.
That's true that on Woophy there are all levels of photos, but what I appreciate is that when some great photographers uploads their own they have not "big heads" and they learn us how to improve our work.

Now it is our own job, for all members to keep this spirit.
Greetings to the whole community

Hello Erwin, well you said it all !!! Woophy is warm, friendly etc etc. It should be that reason why woophy is so great. I found myself a new hobby with this site, and I have more fun by editing pictures because I learned so much of this great site. And I can still improve my skills by reading all the good tips and trucks here. I like that most people on woophy are so friendly. We all have the same interests ofcourse.
I found out that I spend more time with woophy than I really have a day.

Well thats my vision.

Greetings Oscar

Entirely of agreement with you. Woophy must continue on the same way. " Be good " as Joris wrote. He is right

It's a great initiative to stick out your neck Ergoe. But I fully agree. I also post pictures on 2-3 more sites but I always return to Woophy for the discussions and comments. Other sites are a bit "sterile" if I may phrase so. You post your pxs and get some 0-4 views and that's it. It's not inviting to become better. So A BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE for Woophy. It has been proposed earlier but a WOOPHY day or reunion would be a great idea.

Greetings from Pansa to all Woophy friends

I like the geographic slant, although I guess now other sites are providing that. So, what counts is the _community_! I like that people know a bit about me and I about them. And if there were a Woophy Day, I might actually come all the way to Holland, just to meet some of you in person :)

But please have it during cheap fare season--for us dollar poor folks.

I like the international contacts ! I'm proud when I'm telling my friends about the contacts in Argentina, USA, Uruguay, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Holland,... and of course my "own Belgium". So, thanks you all !!

By the way, the first Woophian who mailed me was Rikus (he said : ge hebt schone fotookes manneke - free translation : you have beautiful pictures, my little boy). Do you remember the first person that mailed you for the first ?

And this... My English is bad but I'm not ashamed about it !

Like Nonkel I also love all the international contacts I have now. I'm also posting pics on another site but Woophy is still my first love. Of course sometimes there are problems in this relationship but doesn't that happen in every good marriage?

The biggest mistake I made: writing a comment and 1 hour later find out that I wrote "nice shit" instead of "nice shot".

Ergoe you started a great topic, I agree with you with all my heart that Woophy is a nice community.
I like the contact with different people around the world and also that I shouldn't be a proffesionel.
And I even can upgrade my english a bit. Bye, bye !

At firs it was the map - I had so many pictures from all over the world .
I loved the idea of Woophy and i upload as many as i could (even not so good)
so woophy will reach 10,000 pictures.....
slowly i started to learn - to get better - to know people

and I love you all for that (specialy Joris and his great team) for the good time i have :)

Nice topic, Ergoe. I agree with all the comments about the international friendships and family feeling of Woophy. I enjoy seeing the pictures from all over the world of people, places, and things. Even better than the pictures are the comments and helpful, friendly attitudes we see here at Woophy. Now if we could get all our politicians to join in our spirit we would live in a better world. Some of them might even find they are better photographers than they are politicians. ;-)

Thank you Bernadette, Oscar_, Rhett, pansa, giz, scarlet, Bunny, nonkel duvel, akbar, aiso, Dieuwertje, drora, steve L for all your contributions.

I am very happy to hear from you all, that for you too woophy has it’s great strength in the friendly atmosphere that welcomes new members and which is cared for by very active and open minded members.

Akbar you mentioned it, sometimes there are clouds over the woophy sky, but after the rain follows the sun and I think that Joris, knowing of our small annoyances, will work on improving the system.

Steve, right your are! Woophy shows how one could live together without putting his own ego in front of everything.

Nonkel, the first comment I received on woophy was from “jolien s on march 28/06” SIMPLE BUT BEAUTIFUL.

This comment can also be applied on woophy along with a rating of 5+

The first comment I received was from Coutinho, and the first messages from Aitor Gametxo (Aitor G. today?) and Sara G. I was very proud of that (even if they didn't have Gold cameras at that time; these were much harder to get than today).

I followed the topic with great interest erwin, and , strange enough, had to think about it why I like it on woophy so much. Like many others I upload my pictures on different sites, but the great miss on that sites is the community..........or there is a community and you cannot get closer to them, they look strange about newcomers.......if you know what I mean.

its like you say, coming home..;-).

And of course the contacts, national and international. Sometimes I tell relatives with a bit of proud, I know somebody in Spain or New Zealand Columbia French Switzerland........ and so on and so on.

And the first time I came here on woophy was because of the easy accessibility.

The first person who mailed was by the way John Melskens because of a little discussion we had about one of his pictures...

And like ortho I was also very pleased by one of the first comments from Laura Lizancos....just overhere and I had her admiration....;;;;;;-)))

Yes, knowing people from far and wide is a big draw for me. And how would I have known that I should drink Duvel and scorn Heineken if it weren't for Woophy??

I still remember how proud I was to receive a bronze camera and my first comments.

After posting on some other sites, comming to Woophy was a real relieve, no elite behaviour but fine people who are realy interested and always positive.

The only problem is the addiction (see other forum), when your hooked, you re realy hooked. Sometimes I don't have enough time to spend on the site and then there is always the feeling of missing something.
