Today I see that all the pics uploaded are initially rated with a 5 ... I find this very strange!
Fisrt, the downrate ... now, uploads with bonus.

I noticed that too. I think it's an own rating (5 without comment) to get the px high in the viewing list, since most people view their daily portion organised by rating. I don't think that it is a problem because it will be corrected anyhow with the number of ratings.

Yeah! It happened to me too... I have a lot pictures rated with a 5, but i noticed that he/she hadn't posted any comment! For me this is as strange as giving a 1 without comment! I just want to say that, ok! a 5 is good, but please downrater or uprater give a comment!!!!

Everybody hates the downraters, but the upraters are just as bad. They make the rating system completely ridiculous. This morning, there were nearly 100 members with a Golden camera. Yesterday, 522 new pics were uploaded, out of which 450 with a rating of 4 or more. The conclusion seems obvious: give a golden camera to everyone (just like Dingo already said), and let's drop the rating system.

I think that the problem is not the downrating or uprating... the real problem is not to post a comment! Everybody has got the right to gives one's opinion... If someone thinks that a picture is good or great, ok give him a 5! but then post a comment... And if you think that a picture is bad, give him a 1 but saying why! Then with that comment the member can improve!

Hi Aitor, I am sorry but I disagree. Look at the positive comments. The vast majority of them is : Nice, Wonderful, Wow, .... Does it say anything factual about the rating: not at all. As for negative comments: apart from obvious flaws such as blurry picture, horizon not straight, ... the major reason for giving a low rating is simply that you don't like the picture. Would comments like: I don't like it, Ugly, not my taste .... would help the author to improve his pics? I don't think so. To summarize, everybody is happy with a high rating documented by a single word of praise, but demands a detailed explanation why his pic receives a low rating ... I don't think that it is reasonable. So, again, drop the rating system.

Ok ortho, you're right in some aspects... It's obvious that anyone will say 'what an ugly pic!' but it will be ok to say 'it's not good, you can do ....' I mean tell how to improve the picture with phtoshop...

And you might think that i am happy because someone has rated some of my pics with a 5, but you would be wrong... it's the same, if i get angry with a not-commented-one-rated-picture, i also get angry if someone rates some of my pics with a 5 without any comment, because it memans that another 3 members will rate all those not-commented-five-rated-pictures with a 1, and again WITHOUT A COMMENT!

If I don't like a picture I say so. I won't rate a ugly pic because an 1 rating is still average. If everyone has the guts to be a little bit critical, everyone should learn more from another. It’s some kind of modern decease, being afraid somebody does not like you for having an opinion.
I rather be disliked for my opinion as being liked for a lack of opinion.
It would be nice though, that you only could vote with a comment.

I agree with Ortho, the rating system is actually non sense. Pic's that don't appeal to me, I don't rate at all, instead of giving low rates. And maybe I rate higher, when I like the subject. So rating is not objective anyway. Let's stick to the comments and no ratings. It is lot more work putting in comments than rating and downraters I guess won't bother taking the effort.
