The new map is now on a few days.
What are your experiences with it?
We already heard about the pictures added today but are very curious about your other constructive remarks.

Hi Marcel and Joris,
as i already said, the new map is quick, concise and fun to play with using the search engine (yes, the deserts of the Netherlands :-))))). And it seems you adressed the two issues i came up with (city of the day zoom; the small typographic glitch - did you?).
Now there is one quirk:
- being at news I clicked on the map tab
- I didn't wait the city dots to appear but immediately clicked X added last 24 hours
- the map zoomed a little bit
- Instead of the SMALL number of the last-24-hour-city-dots ALL city dots appeared and all of them where highlighted yellow.
i hope this isn't the small thing that causes months of work!
cheers

Hi Joris,
When loading the page, it seems the map is a bit clipped on top and on the bottom; Antartica doesn't show. Horizontally, the map seems to be full aspect. Zooming out to 100% (with 131% as default zoom factor) doesn't work, so the only option is to pan the map.

Searching for short keywords still doesn't work perfectly. Searching for two-letter words (of, at) doesn't give results (but I agree it wouldn't be useful anyway). Searching for most three-letter words works for most words I tried (e.g., wet, dry, van) but not for 'new' and 'old'. Strange thing is that it does work for 'newer', 'oldest' etc.

@all, thanks for your remarks, we will work on it this week
@ wilfred http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/fulltext-stopwords.html for a list of the forbidden words

Yup, 'new' and 'old' are on that list. It's a weird list, by the way. Apparently it doesn't contain nouns. Fortunately most words don't seem relevant for a Woophy search. I can hardly imagine someone searching for the keyword 'nevertheless', for instance. Yet, some words may need attention - for instance, numbers such as one, two, three are also forbidden. Is there a way to circumvent these forbidden words? Otherwise it is maybe a good idea to add a remark that nouns are preferred as search terms.

The new map is really better than before but I just wanted to know if it's normal that when we click on "added last 24 hours " photos no longer appear in the right column. (As it was a bit slow I understand that it can be removed for the smallest connection). Is it normal or does it came from my browser (firefox 1.5.0.4) ?
