Joris said Thank you ‘editors’ for selecting the most interesting pictures on the site. Thanks to you we are building a collection of the best Woophy has to offer. If you want to see the current collection of the ‘Editors Pick’ go here www.woophy.com/photo/browse/editors Ok !!! Who are the "Editors"? Thanks Luis

Luís, dear colleague:
Some points:
1. I think the editors are doing a very fine job revealing some hidden treasures.
2. I wouldn't want to know their secret identities, that doesn't matter to me. I just would like to believe that each chosen picture was selected after a team discussion and the agreement of three or four of the editors, not just because one of the editors likes it.
3. If we take a look at the 500 pictures already selected, we will see a lot of repetitions. Manuel Librodo's dark face, for example, appears three times! OK, it is a very good picture, but...
Many others appear twice and some in a row.
4. Final question: if we want to be serious, we also need to appear to be serious, like Caesar's wife. For example: we wouldn't want that one member would have about 10% of the selected pictures, would we? That would be weird

Hi Abílio and Luis,
The editors pick is an experiment for creating a collection of really interesting Woophy pictures.
A few months ago we asked members to apply for the role of 'Editor' and we got about 12 reactions. These editors are long time Woophy members of which we think that they can judge a photo by it's photographic merits.
These editors can select pictures on an individual base.
When this experiment is appreciated we like to develop the idea further.
And about Ceasar's wife (I didn't knew this expression) The idea is that we choose good editors and if for one reason or another an editor is a big fan of a certain photographer then we will see this in results.

Hi Joris Late response but I already have the total explanation for everything that goes on in Woophy. It seems a state secret to a site that seemed familiar. And as said Abilio -
if we want to be serious, we also need to appear to be serious, like Caesar's wife. For example: we wouldn't want that one member would have about 10% of the selected pictures, would we? That would be weird

If nobody likes the idea of the editors pick we certainly are not going to continue the experiment.
It is also not decided yet if editors should be anonymous or should receive an icon like the ambassadors we have now. Perhaps it should be their own choice
My reply was within 12 hours, 8 of the 12 hours it took me before answering I was sleeping, 2 hours I was watching soccer and 2 hours I was getting up, having breakfast etc. I sure hope that you don't' mind that it sometimes takes over 12 hours to reply
And I disagree with the assumption of Abilio that it would be weird if 10% of those pictures belong to one member. The whole idea of the editors pick is that we not look at who took the photo but look only at the quality of the photo. (however difficult it is to define quality)
In my case there are many photos of zerga and Alan Carmicheal in my favorites, so if I was an editor (which I am but only for testing) There would be a lot of those two photographers in the list.
I don't see what is wrong with that.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough when I organized my first contribution in this forum in 4 points.
Point number 1 is the only one that really matters.
The other three points are only technic remarks that can be easily fixed.

Luïs - first of all editor's pic has nothing to do with rating. Yes I am an editor. None of my pics has been picked by other editors, no problem to me . I.m.h.o. also the top of the day is chosen by an editing committee, not being the editors. I see in the new Woophy version no improvements as far as the present rating system is concerned. I would like to be convinced of the contrary.

I would like to see a comment as to why the editors choose the photos they do ...I think europeans have a obsession with dark skinned people in native costumes and mutilated bodies

As pointed by Abilio (point 3) the system doesn't prevent the repetitions, and this makes the selection less efficient and attractive. Would it be possible to improve that ? Thanks

@zeeg, yes
@ Jan, we made a change in the rating system very recently. It is not possible anymore to open an account and start rating just like that. I know it is not a big change and probably not the change you were referring to but we expect that this will make it unattractive for abusers to try and influence the rating system
We found a very friendly ex-member from Brazil who is willing to test the new system for flaws.
@dingo yes I recognize that, but being European is not necessary when you want to become an editor
