Just an idea,

what about shares you can buy,I would buy some.

donating ok, but paying memberships seems better to me.

It would be a shame to see Woophy go. I've made a lot of friends here.

Greetings Leon

Thank you Giz,

In the sources you pointed me to I find the following information

Costs:

From the newsletter: To maintain its current operation Woophy needs 400 members to pay a monthly donation of 2.00 Euros . Paypal charges about 30 cents for such small transactions. Those 400 members contribute around € 680 per month (or more if they pay more than € 2.00).

Would it be correct to conclude that Woophy runs bills of € 680 per month just to keep going?

Donations:

From the newsletter: Woophy received almost 1,000 Euro in donations just after the news
From the banner: 43 members support Woophy with monthly donations [a very early figure]

I guess the site is safe for at least a month, maybe two?

It’s because Woophy is asking us to pay its bills that we need to know how high they actually are. More specific information about the issue would be welcome.

Bye

PS: I also read in the newsletter that Woophy has costly plans for improving itself. So costly that a thousand monthly donations would be needed to maintain the site in its new form. A whopping 1700 Euros per month!

Ruud,

Our hosting cost are a little higher than you estimate and we also have to pay interest for a loan.

In our calculation we also accounted that we will get a corporate sponsor or other additional income.

If we receive 1.000 euro a month we would be more or less safe.

Of course we have a higher ambitions than just be safe, we want to improve

Okay. Please keep us informed of the total that you receive.

That's right, isn't it? For Dutch donators.

By the way,

Leons ideas make good sence, in my opinion at least.

Maybe after we all get woophy safe, a kind of "thinktank" can make some suggestions, complete with estimated costs, from which a poll on woophy can be held? After that it's maybe possible to choose a definitive plan to secure woophy's future more firmley.

Just a thought, mind you!

Best regards!

Since it's official for a few days now that Woophy needs money to survive I'll call out louder

In this moment Woophy has 59 sponsors and just 69 days left... a long way till 400 sponsors..so this is a wake up call or we will have nothing to complain about anymore

Since I became a member of Woophy (dec. 2005) I've seen many people come and go on the Woophy site, too bad most of them quit Woophy because of the ratings. I believe in Woophy as a site to put pic's from all over the world on. I don't care anymore for ratings, I believe in it's concept and have spent so many joyful hours looking through good, bad and ugly pic's. Too bad there are many of the last category lately, but I strongly believe that some of the photographers of poor pic's will learn from Woophy and get inspired by other Woophians to do better. And I have seen many members improving their photography skills. My point is: donation of 2 euro's is such a small amount for the joy Woophy gives you, in comparison to whatever you enjoy to spend your with like subscription on a paper or magazine.
So if you believe in Woophy, donate at least 2 euro's!

Well done Lali.

Joris and Ruud , the transparency is awesome.

I will became a supporter for sure, would suggest options to support quarterly, semester or yearly basis.

Dont want to spare the paypal fees, (0,30 monthly) better on woophy safe...

Best regards to all

Just made a donation, but I urge you to initiate paying memberships ( with more privilege then regular members).
Almost the same as sponsors.

Greetings Leon

Dear Woohpians
Only 81 sponsors signed up so far. That is not good enough. 2 Euros a month is not very much to keep this site on-line.
I'm not a heavy user, but I think it's well worth it - so get with the program and sign up as a sponsor

For a European, one American, one Australian that should not be a problem but a person who lives in the india?
2 euro was certainly not the same value
fingers crossed that everything goes well and wish long life to Woophy

Any alternatives to Pay Pal? I had a bad experience with them in the past and don't want to use it.
