In order to help Woophy it would be really nice if active members would donate certain amount each month. Many of you would like to have paying accounts and some privileges which would go along that feature, but don't you think it would be nice to somehowe repay for all that Woophy has already done for us, instead of just waiting for improvements. Improvements do cost money and since Woophy actually has no income but a lot of costs I think it's our turn to do something. I'm quite shure that 3 or 5 Euros a month doesn't mean much to "your wallet", of course if someone is able to donate more each month, I'm shure no one will mind

http://www.woophy.com/donate
You'll find the link to donate safely through paypal on bottom of each Woophy page...link for donations without buying t-shirt is on the right side of linked page.

Lali, absolutely right you are! If a hundred members take this step we can at least make a move ahead! I do it to day!

Lali, I´ll be with you and Woophy.
Paulo Calafate@ not the flowers itself will kill woophy but the costs to run Woophy and to implement improvements to bring Woophy back to it´s roots.

Yes, Lali, let's try to help keeping Woophy alive, mainly now, after knowing about those bad news that the "partnership" with investors was broken! We do believe another solution will be soon on the way, when the Crisis is gone away! At the present, though I'm not so active mainly for job's matter and... ok... some disillusionment with many close members who went away, the obscure behaviour of a few and too many below average quality uploads [I guess Paulo isn't against "flowers" or "pets" but feels uncomfortable with too many bad pics of them and so well praised; anyone is indifferent to a beautiful pic of a flower or animal, but too many and bad, when it happens, it's really frustrating! Anyway, the only method to reduce this situation is really to limit the number of daily uploads from each member], I keep on thinking that Woophy was/is so good for great new real Friends and other nice members that I got from it, that I must also give a little help. I'd suggest the staff to create a sparkling-colourful- diagonal sign to flash on the front page (map) and "photos" page asking for donation: "Woophy continuity is in danger! Please help us with a monthly or quarterly free donation"! I myself will do it in a few minutes
Best regards from Porto,
Miguel
P.S.: Still to the Staff: meanwhile, every little improvement (mainly "rules") you can take without significant costs... please do it.

This is all news to me... what happened???? Why is woophy in trouble? What has changed? ......and why is Lali telling us this instead of some kind of message from the owners?

What has changed is the economic situation which makes it difficult for the management to keep pumping money into woophy!

Dear Woophonians,
I live on an extremely limited income but I have enjoyed the platform that Woophy provides for my photography for a couple of years now. Not sure about the exchange rate for Australian $ to Euro but I respond to Lali's request. I for one, would be able to find around 30 euro per year, if it would ensure the continuation of Woophy, a warm and stimulating photographic site with a strong community feel, crap floral images not withstanding (easy enough to ignore).
Might I also suggest that a small but mandatory yearly fee such as this might deter those who like to use the site as a 'general photo bucket' as opposed to those who avail themselves of all that Woophy has to offer.

Sorry folks but I think this is starting to be pathetic!!!! If you want to help, DO SO!!!!! But there is no need to show off amounts or receipts here. We all have different backgrounds and needs, and any little quantity will be welcome.
Just keep giving.

Completly agree with Igone! The purpose of this topic is certainly not a bunch of "I did...", "I bought... "..."Done it..." and so on.......we do not need to know nor how much, nor when, nor what...just do it or don't do it...your choice...
And also this; I think my explanation in intro of this topic is sufficient, no need for rumors about crisis or something like that until the owners proclaim it....

Just to inform all of you.
This forum topic was started following an email Woophy send to its ambassadors and staff. Read the mail below.
Later we will announce the news also in our newsletter.
Dear Woophy Staff Member and / or Ambassador,
It has been quiet from our side since you all answered so kindly our survey about the future of Woophy.
The reason for this silence was that we were negotiation with two investors and experienced entrepreneurs about a possible investment in Woophy. An investment necessary to pay for all the proposed improvements and maintenance on the Woophy site.
After more than four months of negotiating and making plans the two investors finally decided not to invest in Woophy.
The reasons for their decision in a nutshell were: 1. uncertain times, 2. relatively large effort and investment needed to make Woophy profitable, 3. relatively low profit expected.
For us the Woophy staff this was very bad news. First of all we put a lot of effort in this process but second an maybe even more important we are not able to keep Woophy up without external funding. Also we cannot afford the time (60 days of work we estimated) and money to implement the necessary improvements.
Since we only heard the news yesterday we have not figured out a plan ‘B’ yet but it is safe to say that we urgently need a new plan.
Without a new investor / parent company or any other support Woophy’s future is at stake.
Of course we are working on a plan ‘B’ and keep you informed about our progress.
All the best
Joris

Paolo- thanks for a little perspective on this topic!
Lali - I would have thought that the enthusiastic responses to your email might have earned your encouragement. Personally, I do not have a problem with members acknowledging their own support for YOUR idea! Next time you make such a public appeal, I will remember that one is likely to receive derision for bothering to let you know that your plea was effective.
