Hi, everyone!
I decided (with the idea of Paulo Calafate and Cristina Gonçalves) to organize a Woophy Meeting, in Aveiro, Portugal, next 23rd May (saturday), from lunch time on. Members will meet at 11.30 a.m. in the outside of Forum Aveiro (just in front of Zara [you can see it here, in my pic, at the far end, on the right side: www.woophy.com/photo/484239]. At 1 p.m. the lunch will take place at Restaurante Sal Poente and, then, we will decide a walk around that beautiful city, in the afternoon!
Every member who wants to participate, please leave here your "YES"! By the 15th May, I must know, for certain, all participants.
I have another great info for all Woophyans!
Decided and organized by Teresa Soares (with a very little help from her woophyan friends), there will be a Photo Exposition with the participation of 14 Woophyans!!! The place and date? Right, the inauguration is the ... 23rd May, till the 15th Juin, in Aveiro, at... the Restaurant Sal Poente :wink ! Teresa is someone with a great job in the area and with the task of organizing this kind of cultural events, many of them taking place at that special restaurant (an old salt warehouse, rebuilt to its present function). This means that the meeting will just "antecipate" the inauguration of the exposition.
As the space on the walls is obviously limited, Teresa could only invite a reduced number of people to expose. As the idea came to her in a recent lunch we had at Aveiro, the portuguese members invited were those present that day (3 pics per member). Then, considering the interesting possibility of adding a few foreigner members (to the limit of space), 6 others were invited for their closer friendly relation and photographic diversity. This way, the participants are (alphabetical order:wink:

Besides, some individual postcards, with the 3 pics from each participant, will be made.
Knowing that Portugal is not around the corner, we would be happy not only to receive as many portuguese members as possible, but every foreigner woophy member that is able to come to us. This is valid not only for the Woophy Meeting of the 23rd May, but for everyday along the exposition time. You will be welcome! Joris and Marcel... why not you?.
I'll be anxiously wait for your "YES"!

Olá a todos os whoophyanos portugueses!
Decidi (na sequência de uma ideia do Paulo Calafate e da Cristina Gonçalves) organizar um Encontro de Woophyanos, em Aveiro, no dia 23 de Maio, com encontro às 11h30m no exterior do Forum Aveiro, em frente à Zara. Às 13h haverá um almoço no Restaurante SalPoente e, então, decidir-se-à de um passeio fotográfico pela cidade, da parte da tarde.
Cada membro que quiser participar, agradeço que o indique aqui com um "YES"! Até 15 de Maio deverei ter a confirmação de todos os participantes.
Uma outra grande notícia woophyana, prende-se com uma Exposição Fotográfica que a nossa amiga Teresa Soares decidiu levar a cabo! A mesma terá lugar precisamente no mesmo local e com a inauguração aprazada para... o mesmo dia 23 de Maio. Os membros portugueses convidados foram os presentes num almoço que realizámos há umas semanas atrás em Aveiro, e ficou combinado convidarem-se alguns membros estrangeiros que dariam um âmbito mais internacional à exposição. Dadas as limitações óbvias de espaço nas paredes deste bonito Restaurante aveirense (antigo armazém de sal, recuperado superiormente para as suas novas funções), as fotos limitam-se a 3 por participante e os convidados não-portugueses só puderam ser 6. Os nomes de todos os "expositores" na exposição estão acima indicados. Os nomes dos participantes no Encontro ... aguardo ansiosamente que mo vão indicando aqui no Forum com o referido "YES"

Cá vos esperamos! Nesta cidade acerca da qual alguém já disse que parece ter acontecido " Deus ter aberto a torneira da luz" - e sabemos como a luz é fundamental em fotografia! - esperamos ter uma boa adesão a esta iniciativa e um dia em cheio de convívio e de bons "clicks".
Estamos também orgulhosos de poder expôr no Salpoente, um lugar lindíssimo, que fica no Canal de S. Roque e que tem tradições culturais, por inde já passaram nomes famosos de várias artes, desde a música (Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Cesária Évora, Fausto, Chico Buarque de Holanda, Ney Matogrosso, Ala dos Namorados, Madedreus, Mário Mata, Sérgio Godinho, Jacinta, Maria Anadon, António Ferro e outros jazzmen/women ,muitos outros... Alguns após concertos no Teatro Aveirense, outros tocando aqui) ao teatro (foi residente durante um mês do grupo de Ouro Preto, Brsail, Ponto de Partida, p. exemplo) e ainda à comunidade científica que por lá tem almoçado muitas vezes, além de pintores, políticos, escritores, escultores, poetas, fotógrafos e artistas artesãos (Sebastião Salgado, Paulo Neves, Heitor Alvelos, Pedro Sottomayor, Lúcia Seabra, Jorge Saraiva, eu propria (3 exposições), muitos outros.... Eu própria, além de outros elementos - dedicados Mafalda Garcia, Mário Costa, Goretti Regala, Conceição Gralheiro, Luís Mota, António Regala, estivemos à frente da produção destes eventos.
Cá vos aguardamos, pois, estando a preparar afanosamente a nossa exposição, cuja inauguração é nesse dia 23 de Maio, como anunciado.
Agradeço todo o entusiamo e ajuda do Miguel na preparação deste evento, pelo qual me sinto muito feliz.
We will wait you in this bright city. Someone said one day that "seems day God turned up on the tap of light" - and we all know the signifiance of light in photography! - we will hpe have a very good enrolment in this happening. We hoppe too a day full with good sociabilty and good "clicks".
We are all proud in the fact we may do an exhibition of our works in this beuatiful space, with a great cultural tradition. Here passed one day Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Cesária Évora, Fausto, Jacinta, Ney Matogrosso, Chico Buarque de Holanda, Ney Matogrosso, Ala dos Namorados, Madredeus, Sérgio Godinho, Fausto, Mário Mata, Jacinta, Fernando Valente, Maria Anadon, António Ferro e outros jazzmen/ women...) and also a cientific community, writers, poets, politicians, sculptors, painters, photographers, artisans... (Sebastião Salgado, Paulo Neves, Heitor Alvelos, Pedro Sottomayor, Lúcia Seabra, Jorge Saraiva... myself (3 exhibitions, many others...and with the production of dedicated elements Mafalda Garcia, Mário Costa, Conceição Gralheiro, Luís Mota, Goretti and António Regala and myself.
We will exepct you, so. In this moment we hardly prepare our exhibition. The inaugural day is 23 May, as Miguel announced.
I´me grateful to Miguel´s help and dedication to this exhibition and I´m very happy with idea of doing here a Woophian encounter!

Adoraria poder estar presente neste convívio maravilhoso de gente boa e ambiente magnífico! Não posso me ausentar de São Miguel neste período, infelizmente.

Ask Javí (Kambrosis)... he knows what I'm talking about! Much harder will be to take Paulo.Trindade away from Viana! I must guess why . But I'll kill him, anyway!
@ mr.W: I had my 4th small surgery today, around my eyes, and I'll take a few more days to go back to my Blog. Even my new pic posts and comments, that I intended to have come back sooner, will take a few more days, right? Thanks

@ Paolo: absolutely great!!! We already have 3 non-portuguese Woophyans (and partners) to come!!! Thank you!!! I guess we can make the biggest meeting till now. It would be fantastic for Woophy in these "troubled" days . Besides, Paolo, that's the easiest way to have josecps also there: he loves to speak italian! . Just like me: Heheheh! What a trainning!
