Dear Sirs (member included, of course !)
It is the second time that I invite you to visit www.olhares.com. There, you can see how the site is structured and how:
1) It is posible to avoid low votes, not honnests. (The member that votes appears at the "My gallery manager", where I can see "Who" voted and if I want I can contact him (through the site or by personal email, this one if available)
2) How can I see the summary of my photos (nr of votes, comments, etc, phot-by-photo)
3) I can easylly access to my photos and their votes and comments
4) How I can see "Most recent", "Most votes", "Most viewed", "most commented", etc photos. The site has so many easy filter that it is fantastic the way how you can move there.
Whoophy is "bigger" but "Olhares" is best,
Simply try it. And for site Admnistrator: lear with them
Whoophy is very annoying site ! it is difficult to "surf".
Best regards. Carvalhais Ricca / Porto - PORTUGAL ricca@netcabo.pt

Hi, Carvalhais Ricca!
I think I must comment something from your new thread!
Indeed, the first thing is that I don't think it's fair from a Woophy member to call at its own Forum for members to go and try another site! The first and big question is this!
Besides, even if we can think that Olhares.com may have something better than Woophy (maybe the overall quality of pics), there are many more relevant points where Woophy is better, too! Beggining with the international language in which it's written and the much broader internationalisation of its members, this Forum, etc! But even getting to the point you focus, I must say that at 2. and 3. you are not far from being wrong. Facilities are almost the same! At 4. maybe you haven't find yet how it works at Woophy. Not that far, also, from what you seem to claim. Finally, even if I could almost agree that point 1. could be improved here, that isn't sufficient to say that Woophy is annoying! About surfing, I'm sure you don't know yet how to do it here, as it's EASIER than at Olhares when it comes to do it among member's galleries! Here you can see every pic from any member in middle size, going from one to another pic without leaving the place. At Olhares you can't do it without going back! So, you are wrong at surfing facilities!
A last word: I think it's not friendly to say "site administrator: learn from them"! Besides, of course all sites learn from each others! Woophy has been doing its best to improve too, as I have seen since I came across it last August. And I believe it will go on doing it!!!
As a Woophy member for almost one year now, I'll stay until I have serious reasons to leave! From time to time may have happened some situations that I'd prefer not to have occured. Even though, not enough to put me down! For now... long life to Woophy and all friends I made here!
Greets from Porto, Miguel

Every bird sings it's own song, 'olhares' looks like a fine site, but I wouldn't call Woophy annoying...rather amusing.

Saudações do Brasil...
Olá Carvalhais… First necessary to say that I visited the Site Looks, I found beautiful and impressive pretty photos…! For me, it would be much more easy to add to photos and commentaries for being in Portuguese, language of my country… but I found in the somewhat different Woophy! I do not know to explain! I adore to be part of this family. I cannot be always this way, but when I enter I forget them hours and of what I have to make. I have many friends this way, what with certainty I will also find in the Looks. When I looked sites to add and to show to my photos, that are only one hobbie in my life, Woophy was it enchanted what me for the form as is organized, for the accesses, the abrangência, and recognition we as people. I do not agree to you, with respect, when it says that the Woophy is irritating. I do not find nothing likeable to compare works or projects, or whatsoever! Each one… either human or not, is different in its concept, its essence. The site Looks the same deserves respect that the Woophy, and to opt to be another one or one part is liberty of speech. I already made my choice! I go to be with the Woophy, and with the friends who I made here, this includes you, but whenever it can I will visit the Looks! Greetings of Brazil…

Maybe because I don't speak Portuguese, IMO it's not that good. There are some nice photos, but they are very localised, on Woophy you get to see all sorts of images from around the world. And Woophy is always changing. So I don't think I will go over.

Hi Carvalhais,
Most of us hang out on Woophy because of the crowd here, not because it is so well organized. I agree with your points 1 through 4. I too find navigating on Woophy cumbersome.
There is room for improvement. That much is certain!

Good luck on Olhares, I'm staying anyway. We have a saying in Holland, The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Maybe its true, maybe its better but I already see one big disadvantage and thats the language. So there goes your statement. I think I like the people here better, come to think of of it I'm sure of it.

Well Carvalhais,
I only read this thread without checking that site your promoting. But meanwhile I did find out you did this before. Together with the fact that your way of communicating is rather agressive makes me think, and excuse me if I'm wrong, this smells like some subtle spamming...
But I do not want to judge you about that nor at the points you are stating in your post. It however gave an insight about something wich could be missing on woophy... A link page...
Wouldn't it be a good idea to have a page at woophy with interesting photo-related links: about hardware, software, workshops, fora etc...

first i did not wanna say something here.. but i changed my mind:
there are certainly other, better websites then woophy. with other features, with better pictures... sure! i'm also member of 2 of those 'better' websites
as everybody (or at least many) knows, i left the side 2 weeks ago. why did i come back? because i did not realize before how many good friends i have here!!! i received many nice mails of members and i really got 'homesick' ! so i came back... this side is probably not the 'best' in pictures, in features. but it has the best 'family' you can find in the internet. and it is worth to stay. (or return... )

I agree with Scott: Why are you recruiting and why are you here?
When I was in grade school my teachers when we would eat always told us that we could not say that the food we where served was bad, we could only say we didn't like it. Here I am telling you the same thing, everyone has got his own ideas and everyone is free to prefer woophy to other sites as well as prefer other sites to woophy. The web is free, so it is up to it's users to behave properly, I think it is quite unpleasant for you to come here and sponsor another site.

I think Carvalhais remarks were meant as constructive criticism, illustrated with an example. Like everybody he's here because he likes it here. He just wants Woophy to become better still.
I read his ideas as suggestions for improvements and maybe one day, when Woophy can afford a bigger server, it can implement a few of his ideas. That would be nice.
His ideas aren't that bad, are they? (I mean his points 1 to 4 and the navigating)

Carvalhais you had much luck have not removed this topic of the forum. I had no such luck, I removed the topic: Photography on the Internet, composed of some links to sites of Photographers and / or several sites linked As always photo, sent an email to joris asking the reason, it simply answer did not know that you are welcome, the second email sent or replied. The admnistradores this site are convinced that this is the best site in the world and the surrounding area and who are aware realize that much help there have been born in Holland. The woophy has developed and interesting changes woophy 2.0 came performence and improve the navigability, but the staff there is not much used, not like to say that there are better sites that. One thing is sure, the sites are not comparable, despite everything I like the woophy and mainly the work of some menbers

António, I just can't understand what you wrote in the 3rd line (the english, I mean), and I think it was important that you clarified that! The way you wrote it seems a case of censure without explanation, which of course wouldn't be right! I would prefer not to believe it is the case, so please explain what happened! I really had a quick look at your topic which, at a first glance, I think it was very interesting; I intended to go back later, to read it slowly, and it wasn't there anymore. Really strange and I think we must know the reasons. Maybe Joris will tell here if it was a technical mistake or anything was against the rules! Anyway, your version isn't very clear on account of the english sentence; if you please try again... Greets to everyone!
P.S. A public "I'm sorry" to Carvalhais Ricca for my wrong comparison at my 2 last lines of the 4th paragraph (the big one), regarding surfing! At Olhares it's possible that!

Miguel: What happened was very simple: i Placed a topic in the Forum, call Photography on the Internet, were more than 50 sites related to photography. On these sites were all sorts of subjects, technical sites, sites similar to woophy, personal web pages, etc, etc, etc The only member who had oportunaty of coment was Trudy, after his comment the topic no longer be available. I sent an email to Joris that said they did not know what I was speaking, replied and answered and this time not obtained response . is unfortunate that the admnistadores of wopphy are not as good as the site.
PS - I can prove what I say
Note by Joris: there are more members who have administrative rights to the forum and who are able to edit or delete topics. In this case the Woophy staff did not delete this topic (despite of being born in Holland)

António ( and other members) I think you have a good point. There is no harm in discussing the pro´s and contra´s of the various photo sites available. It is an open market and a lot of people already visit more sites, maybe even most! Eventually the best one will survive although there is always room for niche -players like in any market! I consider Woophy as such player. You can only be best if you treat your members as full grown customers and in Holland there is a saying, The customer is King! Although I am reasonably well in Spanish Olhares looks very commercial to me and not that user friendly at all, but I must admit that is at very first glance only! I support the 4 four points Carvalhais made for improvement of Woophy, I am sure the whole Woophy community would benefit from these improvements. However I do not know in how far the available budget of Woophy can sustain these wishes because they would certainly affect the capacity of the hardware available. That would mean Woophy has to generate more income from other sources and I am afraid our active community is too small for that, is it not? It might be a good suggestion to open a forum thread to have this open discussion but only when Woophy management is prepared to participate and to lay out their vision. I mean there must be a long term vision behind Woophy which I as a relative new member have not seen yet (and that is a missed chance as it is)

Carvalhais Ricca. I visited your site and I must say that I don't think this is a site for me or for the great majority of the Woophyers. Not that I doubt about their skill but the quality of the pics on your site is faaaaaar better than Woophy's. Almost professional. We can (I speak in general) not compete with this standard, except maybe some exceptions. Second, practically all comments are in Portuguese, or Spanish. So I stay with Woophy, with all the imperfections, with all my friends, all my enemies (that's inevitable ()
