Whenever I see the comments on pictures, very seldom there is some critical response. You read always the words nice, fine, beautiful etc. I'd like to receive serious comments on the subjects so I can improve. I want to propose that comments are more specific, e.g remarks on multiple topics like composition, exposure, originality of subject, artisticity, and finally an overall judgement (which can be "nice, beautiful, great" etc.) followed by a short suggestion for improvement if so.
Perhaps this is an old suggestion, because I did not view all forum topics, but anyway...it helps to improve our work!
Peter.

it is an old suggestion.......

Most of the time I try to give comments that are more in the way you wish Peter, but sometimes pictures are in my eyes just fine and all I have to say is what I think of the picture, its good nice etc...etc...

But, perhaps they will shoot me for this words, so be it..., most of the woophy members are just snapshooters.............

I would also like to add that it is very rare to find photographers who really care for detailed constructive criticism. 95% (the sharpshooters) do not care at all; 4% are offended, and the last % is interested, but s/he does not necessarily have the tools/competence to apply the suggestion.
So, after you have written a few critiques/suggestions, and you do not get any feedback at all (except maybe some downrating ... they were offended), you do not write a lot of other critiques/suggestions anymore.

Pijlabo Hi. You have, indeed, raised a topic which has been regularly discussed. I cannot add anything to what I said on a previous occasion -

Hope you find it helpful.

it is very rare, but i do write suggestions.
but othervise, i mosly comment pics which attracts my eye and mostly these are realy nice, beautiful, exellent , etc.

and i am sorry, that i do not react...I may not agree with remarks, or do not have any possibilities to do so (like to get better camera or sth for better quality of pics).

I won't. And, although reality is sometimes hard, I really appreciate your comments! I suppose you're not offended when I do the same with your pics...
And yes, if something is nice, it is nice, but what amazes me is that some pics I do not encounter as beautiful, are rewarded with high rates, as some really fine pics in my opinion, are neglected.

You have an intersting point here PIJLABO:

some pics I do not encounter as beautiful, are rewarded with high rates, as some really fine pics in my opinion, are neglected.

I fully agree with you and I can not understand why is this happening, it did not happened before.

I am guilty as charged, I don't rate photos as I should and as ortho158 said I have neither the tools nor competence to apply the suggestion. However from this point, I 'll be more constructive.

Pijlabo and Marcos, I'm glad to know that it is not only me who is having that same impression. I also wonder what is happening lately

Hello! I am a "snapshooter" because of the RULES of Woophy. I actually sell my works & infringe on peoples rights with my cameras & also enter contests.I will not comprimise the integrity of my subjects, so use my cheeper cameras for this web sight & am only offended when lude, rude & ment to be offensive comments are made.
I would love to critique without being offensive, but not sure how. As with some others I have encountered, I would rather not say anything & not rate a photo rather than take the chance of being offensive. I rate what appeals to me with a genuine simple comment, sometimes. Sory if this does not help but this is why. & I like it here because almost all photos posted do mean something to the person taking it even if it is not the best quality. I have been inspired to go a couple of places I have not been because I now know a bit more of what to expect in some countries.
