Thanks Joris and Marcel for this new improvement! It's a new fine feature at Woophy2, to look for pics through a calendar! Greets, Miguel

I am sorry, but I am not enthousiastic, unless I miss something.
It works only for a specific day? It is not possible to sort by rating? It is not possible to combine with search arguments?
Please tell me that I am wrong.

Ah, I found out what the calendar will mean, it's a very nice aid for searching different members, it works faster than the map. And it's a nice idea too that I can search by day when I missed a day at woophy. I am very glad Joris and Marcel with this new tool. Dieuwertje

@ ortho: I don't think you miss something. I commented to fast (early in the morning). After a closer look I must say you ask the right questions and as far as I can see you're right and I have to say I'm not enthousiastic at all. Specialy the search on ratings is important for me. Now we still have to go over 600+ pictures to find our favorites.

Hello everybody!
Still a big surprise all this new woophy stuff, I am trying to get acquainted with all the new functions... and it feels nice and bright and colourful and light and advertised.....
I too am having a little trouble with this topic that is being discussed; I think though that the root of the problem is not exactly the method of search that is or isn't working, but rather what is (and what has become) the main purpose of woophy itself.
Questioning the function of the SEARCH button in this new system is - in my opinion - only a reflection of what the new changes have brought to this community. If with woophy 1.0 it was quite clear that this community was created around the idea of SHARING photographs, in a very amateurial way - this new gorgeous website seems to me to be more oriented towards the idea of SHOWCASING photographs, still in a non professional manner, but with a slight twist of views.
When I first got on this site I loved the idea of sharing my passion for photography with a vast community of people, and also the idea of being able to look and study other member's portfolios, geographical areas, and artistic taste. I believe that this is the reason why many of us display photos here rather than on sites like flickr, or other more famous and certainly more common showcase communities. Woophy is about seeing other people's photos, either randomly, or according to area, or by date, or by rating, or by views, or by subject, or by any other mean that allows free browsing into a specific category of personal interest. It seems to me that this new version is much more oriented towards a personal showcase of photographs; Great space is given to member's profiles, and also the widely discussed "search" button works according to these orientations.
It seems truly awkward that in the months and years of preparation of this new 2.0 system, whoever created the website did not consider what was the main button of the old woophy. The one that with all its pros and cons, allowed everybody to LOOK at pictures from everywhere, week after week, keeping the ratings, and the views, and the comments flowing for the very best of this amateur community. I honestly don't care if the thumbnails of MY photos are cropping the pictures, or to let everybody else know about MY EXIF data (which by the way is all in Manual mode!!!) - What I do care about is the amazing shot from the unknown photographer - or the old friend - that I have missed because I have no way of finding it aparts from guessing that - for example - A.Miguel Oliveira has another stunning picture!!!
To conclude this lengthy post; If i wanted to showcase my work and allow for it the best exposure possible, I wouldn't upload on woophy, I would probably find somewhere else. I upload here because I want to share opinions and critiques about photography; my photography, but mainly other members photography. I hope this new version of woophy isn't only a "bigger & better" attempt to replicate on showcase photography sites, because this would completely miss the key point of success of the old woophy community.
Hope this hasn't offended anybody, please let me know what you think.
Hugs to all,
Nathan

pfffft who cares nathan? I don´t ... it sounds rather acid... but hey that´s you´re opionion and you´re right.
I´m glad the calender function search option is back, but still very much awaiting the solution of not cropped thumbs. My time and internet connection isn´t that fast the browse through all the material (bad, worse and good) in the medium sized preview.
Anyway good these early search option is almost completely back
grtz..
