Thanks you for all the responses on my topic. I am glad to be not the only one who recognized this problem, and I hope that from now on every body will look to the large version. Martin you pointed out an other good thing too, because at the large version you see indeed nice surprises too.
Regards, Dieuwertje

i agree with all the others that you have to watch the big version to make a comment or a vote. but scarlett (and others) has a point too. it takes so much time, it has become more difficult. so i watch less photo's than i have watched befote. and as a result i often select one or some photographers in stead of scrolling through some hours of uploaded pictures.

Hi every body, Thanks for this very interesting topic. The ideal would be to allow comment and vote only after looking at large version but this is not practical so my suggestion is to tick L, for large or S, for small when commenting or voting. Regards Alain

My cheaks became very red when i was reading Dieuwertjes topic. I tryed to see as many pictures as possible. And because i like to get some comments, i give a lot to others. But i am a very starting amateur and i cannot tell a lot more then that i like a picture or not. Sometimes i see that a picture needs more cropping, and there it stops. But i started to view the large pictures, it takes more time, but i can tell something more aswell. Sometimes, the large picture does not fit on my computer. Then i have to see the middle picture for the whole impression. . Someone said he doesnot lay value at a comment like beautiful. I am very happy with all comments. I like to get some good advise aswel. I stopped wanting to see everything. I like the birthdaycalender. I always look there. If I manage to do that every day i will know all woophymembers after one year. Watching the large size tells a lot more about a picture, and taking time to watch seriously is very important, i think. greetings, Trudy

Hi all. I agree with Dieuwertje and others, that the best evaluation and comment on a pic is be giving after watching it in large-modus.
To be honnest I rarely do. Only the pics I really like, or the pic I can't place, the bizars, the ...
Since I am on woophy, (august last year) I try to see each day all the pics. Since that time I can count the days I missed here on woophy on one hand. Really. Ok I fly threw all pics and I rated and give comment on the pics on small-modus. Most of the time friendly, positive comments, ... and only the pics I like get a rate. A friendly, positive comment in a few words, ... fast indeed.
I agree with Scarlet that it goes rather slow now with woophy 2.0 to watch every pic. But I do my best to see them all. These days there are a lot a pics and some people pump in a lot off images (quiet often pics I wouldn't show) But I think it's everybody right to put pics here on woophy as much like they want. No? Anyway I hope that the staff will find a solution that gives a more friendly (quicker) way to see all pics.
But on the issue of rating an giving comment on pics. Are we really going to decide only to comment and to rate after watching the large view?? I am not pro. Surely not in the actual situation.
If we do I think there will be less rating, less comments, ... And come on who doesn't like a friendly word on his or her pics.
Grtz, Rik

trudy, you are the way I was when I first started. You want to look at every picture! So do I, still! I like looking at all of them, but now browsing the most recent added only lets you look at 8. Then you have to go to the next group of 8 and so on. It's very slow compared to the way that it used to be. I've basically given up. That is not fair to new members who want their work to be seen. I have so little free time anyway . I'm an American so I work ALL the time!!! The old way was okay, I could hit the button and comment, but this new display has made me give up. I'm doing the best I can with checking in on faves over the weekends and browsing when I get a bit of a chance.
And it gets even slower if I want to read all the comments because I can only see the first few.
There are things I like about the new Woophy--seeing pix NOT on green, the ability to share faves, the improvements in speed, but the browsing is a HUGE issue for me.

Agree with Scarlet. The browsing is really enoying. I understand the issue of load on the server. However, most times there are only one or two people logged in at the same time. I thought the highest number I have seen was 8. Is this a problem then?

I think those numbers only regard the forum. The map would probably be a bit more crowdy.

Oh I didn't know that it only counts the Forum visitors. But makes sense otherwise Woophy was not very popular.

Hi Trudy, I hope your cheeks are normal now, but don't mind, after some time you have to realize you that it's impossible to see all picts of the day. Now I switch looking pict, one day the new ones and the other day my favorites.

I quite enjoy browsing the new photograph postings, but like most commentators here, I also find it too time consuming to look at photographs at full resolution, and herefore only enlarge the ones that I think are special. The fact that it takes three screens to get to full resolution, and then very difficult to get back to the original place in the 'photo queue' is especially annoying.

@TGB. I find right clicking the image when browsing a little easier. Right click when browsing, then click on the image for a full view. Close when done. No need to look for your last image when browsing. It's in the background. (Something is very wrong with my english here, but hope you'll understand what I try to explain )

I totally agree that few people take enough time to really look at the pictures into detail. Some macro shots that were high rated were very blurry and/or grainy or with colour distortions. It would be ideal if you were only allowed to vote after viewing in full upload size, but I guess that is technically not possible????

even though you click the large view and notice the blur etc how much can you really say about it? I've come across this so many times on the site that its pretty much a site about sharing photos from around the world and not particularly a site about photography. I know some people do appreciate the constructive criticism but i find in most cases that its just not expected considering what the site is really about.

Hi Leilani, I agree that this side is to share pict around the world and that I like very much. But it's also a side to learn more about photography, and some pict are realy to bad to see what they are look like. It's nice to see a lot of pict, but it's also nice to see a good looking photo. If I show my country or something else, I will show it at the best, so it's pretty to look at.
Regards Dieuwertje.

I agree....I always think people want to learn from each other too but maybe that is not what it is about here. It is fun though!
