I just found out, by accident, out to rate a pic, and this is really not obvious! For those who did not find yet: the stars below the pic are used both to indicate the current rating, and to allow you to rate (click on the appropriate star).

Adding on to ortho158 comment.......there is no enlargement of the thumbnails when we click on the pictures in the latest commented as well as those in the search.........so, is it my browser problem? ..I am using Opera. If not, how can one view and comment on the thumbnails??????
Best regards......sawsengee
P.S. for the moment, I discovered that the full function of being able to view large on the thumbnails, comments and rates could only be available through the SEARCH button either selecting by elements e.g. nature, etc. or by selecting the latest added.
P.S. I just saw in the posted message, the number of members ONLINE and their names as well....wow, this is LIVE information!!! Good job.

Hi Joris & Marcel, This is very strange.......I am running both Opera and Internet Explorer to test Woophy 2.0.......... Opera has your Woophy 2.0 uploaded while the Internet Explorer has Woophy 1.0 !!!!!
Best regards........sawsengee

Congratulations! My first impression is very positive. Yesterday I was entering every hour to see if there was working Woophy 2.0. Thanks to all the participants in the creation of this product.
I am going to try to collaborate with my opinion in small some point.
- In " Adding a photo ", Categories, Nature: in the description two words are superposed.
- In "Search": a good existing tool in Woophy's previous version was the search between dates, for example to select the best photo of the month.
- In "Map": the scale does not make sense any more than in the line of the equator; I believe that it would be better to remove it.
- In the technical information about a certain photo: I consider a mistake to put the secondhand Software.
Thank You very much. Good product!.

thanks all your replies are put on a big list and taken into account when improving 2.0
Mind that for us 2.0 is not an endpoint but a new start.

Joris I like the browsing options, culture, people etc., very much , but I would like to have the option recent /rating also on that part.

I found out that there are 2 ways to get to the larger pic. Either click on the small pic, to get add'l info (exif, ...), and click again on the pic. Or, click on the 'enlarge' symbol at the bottom left of the small pic (which is simpler, but not what we used to do) . I think that it is a bit confusing. IMO, it would have been better to keep it the old way, and to have an 'exif' symbol instead of an 'enlarge' one.

@Martin, To keep the load on our database within reasonable limits we cannot allow to musch difficult queries (request to the database) So some functions from the old 1.0 version in the search are not possible anymore. We will try and optimize as much as possible according to all your wishes.

It seems to me that the thumbnails for uploaded last 24 h and last comment updates arent realy fast. Even when you reload the page a thumbnail shows from a pic that isn't the newest anymore.
And I must agree that the tumbnails arent as good as they used to be.
But still loving it!

Am I wrong or not? It seems that the downrating is still alive! You can just click on a star without comment and it appears as a rating.

Thank you for the new version, there are some great new features.
I miss some of the 1.0 search functions, for my use of woophy 1.0 the search between dates (pictures of the last 2 days, last month etc.) was essential. It would be nice if you could integrate that into the new version.

I agree with the comment about the thumbnails. It's just a detail of the photo instead of the whole composition. Impossible to judge a photo with this thumbnail.

@ Bernhard, we know and we could introduce this feature again but searching the database like this takes up a lot of server resources....
We will think of a solution

Adding to Ruud~ and Christain C on the thumbnail issue:
Looks like portrait-format photos are cropped whereas panoramic-landscape-formats get the frame treatment. I'm not sure which one is better, because the framed thumbnails of panoramas get very small making a first glance almost impossible.
If you keep framing the panoramas, I'd prefer as frame colour rather the neutral green of the thin frame around all thumbnails or the dark green of the background instead of the very light green you're using now.
Maybe the thumbnail distributor could check the format first and if it is larger than 1:2 panoramic-landscape it may occupy two thumbnail spots?
For portrait-formats maybe you could test a mix of cropping and squeezing.

thumbnails cont'd ...
oh, yes, look at the thumbnails of the rust image of Teun (1st row leftt) and the cloud image of Eftegarie of Almeria (1st row centre):
(click here for this thumbnail page)
The cropping completely changes the appearance of those protrait formats. I probably wouldn't have clicked on Eftegarie's photo let alone fav it:
yeah, the linking and the text appearance attributes are so comfortable now.

hmmmm well unless I'm missing something there is now no easy way to scroll thru all the pictures posted in a day. As soon as I hit the limit of pictures in one group I have to go to the next group to continue scrolling. Please if I'm wrong someone tell me how to do it.
That will certainly slow down my commenting, anyway....I used to just scroll thru every single picture. I see this as a big loss of interface ease. Unless I'm missing something about how it works (entirely possible). This is the main way for me to discover new members works.
I like being able to share my favorites and I am about to go elect some favorite members! Especially with that weird scrolling thing it may be the most efficient way to be sure I see new photos regularly from people whose work I like.
@Ortho, thanks for pointing out the enlargement option on the small picture. I was getting very frustrated very fast by having to click thru twice.

Thanks for keeping the white oceans. Looks better than the light blue.
I liked the very first dot distribution on the main map better in terms of numbers of dots. Somewhere in between the map where Europe was completely flooded in red dots and the current amount which is a bit sparse. The distribution of colours is just right.
Good idea to start with yellow dots on the search maps. This looks gorgeous. Please remind people to try out searches on the map, like for beach, desert, rain, sun, sunset, sunrise, graffiti, etc. (I'm still amazed of the barren deserts of the Netherlands). It is great fun to see the distribution of things and attributes around the world, especially with the new coloured dots.

Till now it all seems a much larger set up as before,
spacious font and lot's of space between , seem much more scrolling... who cares for the icons and smiliy's it isn't msn! Anyway a matter of taste...
The date search as mentioned by bernard was a handy item by judging the photo's.
The cropping of photo's for the thumbs is a major set back!
Handy items as fav. lists etc.. look cool.
I guess a lot of "getting used too" but as they say in Holland "stilstand is achteruitgang" - stand still is deteriation so
change is good for all, and the overall opinion with the promized items woophy 2.0 is on track!
grtz,
Corneel

Hard to believe but woophy looks even better than before!
Love the new design, colour-combinations look more distinct, the new features are very handy, quick and easy to use,... top!
few remarks - please go back to the old size and format thumbnail, it's impossible to try and find the interesting photos in the overview-box now. - same for the avatars - first couple of minutes I was able to see the members that were curently online on the forum-pages! I don't think that's a very good idea. it's gone now.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the impressive result and probably the many months of hard work Joris & Marcel.
Kind Regards,
W.Z.

I like - the white background for the pictures - the exif data (time is maybe too much, yes) - the photographers favs - the history of comments
I agree with Zerega, what a pity the thumbnails are only cropped releases of the photographies ... It's really a serious serious issue, on my mind.
And, mh.. the size of the picture for rating could be larger too : It is too easy to comment and rate without serious looking on the picture - for instance, it stays easy to judge a picture without a real look on the quality of sharpness and grain -
