About Facebook

Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.

Anyone can join Facebook
All that's needed to join Facebook is a valid email address. To connect with coworkers or classmates, use your school or work email address to register. Once you register, join a regional network to connect with the people in your area.

Discover the people around you
Facebook is made up of many networks, each based around a company, region, or school. Join the networks that reflect your real-life communities to learn more about the people who work, live, or study around you.

Do more
Facebook's Platform enables anyone, anywhere, to build complete applications that you can choose to use. The possibilities are endless. Define your experience on Facebook by choosing applications that are useful and relevant to your world.

Keep it private
At Facebook, we believe that people should have control over how they share their information and who can see it. People can only see the profiles of confirmed friends and the people in their networks. You can use our privacy settings at any time to control who can see what on Facebook.

Because facebook is something completely different then woophy. I am member of both. I have many "friends" on facebook that are not connected to woophy, but still are working in media and often photography. they use facebook as a portal to communicate, explore with people within the same interest. It is probably nothing for you Geoffrey or Corneel, but i definitely think it is a nice way to connect with (and hopefully acquire)folks from different disciplines to join woophy. Apart from sharing and discussing photography, woophy is also about filling the world map with as much as possible photo's from as much as possible places. If a woophy community on facebook helps linking people in that way, I think it is just great.

Hoyte, is it different from My Space ? Is it complementary ?
I see My Space more as an espace for exhibition of personal work than really for communication, so I'm curious about your opinion about Facebook.

I am new to both woophy and facebook..I must admit that I just completely truly enjoyed looking at beautiful pictures about a year ago introduced by a professional photoghapher friend of mine..Sorry about not making many comments in woophy as I notice that people would visit others' pictures and I feel embarrassed for my humble pictures..I now want to buy a new point and shoot and start to learn and take pictures more seriously ( fun rather ) and when I get much better then I will start posting more.
I'd like to thank hoyte for the opportunity to introduce the possibility of meeting more friends also lonesome runner for the full explanation..same ideas as hi5.com , we can
block if we want if it becomes negative aspects.
Glad to be part of a nice society.
