Dear Mr.Woophy,
No complain, just a suggestion concerning a new feature. Please, do not consider this message if it was already discussed.

Is it possible please to get the user's maps?
Well, it looks interesting to see pictures from each others but it could very good to follow people during their trips e.g., Mr. Adams were in Dubaï on September 2004 end then in Singapore the next month. Additionally, if we can get the address to blog our map, it would be fantastic!

Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Ludo

Looking at the map of a member is not a problem at all: go to Map, fill in the name of the member in the Search field, ... and you get it!

I think what Ludovic means is this:
Have the map with our pictures, just like it is now, but additionally insert in each city where we hav been when we have been there.

So that by looking at the personal page of a member on the map we can see not only where he has been but even when.

If I understood correctly than I agree, I don't know how hard it would bee to do this but it sounds like a neet idea.

I think there even is a php-based URL including someone's name that directly gives you the personal map of that person - unfortunately I forgot how to reproduce that link. Someone here who remembers?

@ wilfred, in the news section of last years december, at the bottom of the page ......

PHP Strings

For those of you who don’t know any PHP (like myself) here a few tips if you want to make links to your collection from outside Woophy.

If you want to link to a collection of a certain member use this link

www.woophy.com/search/index.php?ob=averageRate&un=joris

Of course you can substitute the name joris for your own username. If your username contains spaces (like Aitor G.) replace the space with %20 (Aitor%20G.). Try it by copy pasting the above link in your web browser.

The text ‘ob=averageRate&’ makes that the pictures are shown by highest rating, when you remove this text the pictures are shown by id#

‘un’ just before the text ‘joris’ stands for ‘username’ replace this ‘un’ for a ‘c’ and you can make links to cities, replace it with ‘cc’ (country code) you can make links to countries. ‘kw’ stands for key word.

www.woophy.com/search/index.php?ob=averageRate&c=rotterdam (example for Rotterdam)

www.woophy.com/search/index.php?ob=averageRate&cc=nl (Example for Netherlands)

www.woophy.com/search/index.php?ob=averageRate&kw=beach (Example for key word ‘beach’)

With the character ‘&’ you can make combinations between the different codes.

www.woophy.com/search/index.php?ob=averageRate&c=rotterdam&un=joris&kw =moon (example for all my pictures from Rotterdam containing key word ‘moon’)

Have fun trying for yourself

I use it myself to mail direct to my 'map'............

@de stilte: Thanks, useful to know.

It'd be good if the same could be done with the map page, just tried:
http://www.woophy.com/map/index.php?ob=AverageRate&un=dave%20moore

... and unfortunately that doesn't work; any ideas?

Yes, "de stilte" I know about that list of PHP strings you mention, but it doesn't include the one that gives you a person's map - as Dave says. There is one that does work and someone once told me but I can't find it anymore :-(

Thanks for all your answers, I will try to summarize everything.
Well, @devish: it is exactly what I meant.

Well, Woophy is about photography in the first place. To make a map of where you've been without adding pictures there are some other possibilities on the Web. Some of these let you add pictures, additionally. To name just a few:
http://www.mapbuilder.net/
http://www.world66.com/myworld66, http://douweosinga.com/projects/visitedcountries, http://www.travbuddy.com (states and countries only, not cities)
You could also do something with Google Earth: http://earth.google.com/

I would say that Ludovic's idea is quite neet, because it would not just show where you've been if you haven't got pic there (otherwise it would not be adequate in woophy) but just show the map of your pics all over the world, just like now, with one more option, every city where you have pics gives a small indication (a little rectancge that you can enlarge, just like the pics are here on woophy) with info like: when you have been there, how long etc, obviusly only if you want to put such information.
