Definitely, after the dull draw between France and England (Engl. much "duller" ), and the alive and kicking match Ukraine-Sweden, it's confirmed only Holland and Portugal haven't scored yet Santí, I don't think Germany will win. At least if they play like against Portugal. It wasn't a clear win: they had less chances than Portugal and didn't play forward as usual. I go on thinking Holland (unless losing their last match... ), Spain and, now, Russia are favourites! Italy and France, in a second level, have their chances, too.

What an energetic game. The Polish skipper hammered that strike to level the match against the Russians, who ran out of gas completely in the last 20-25 minutes. All in all, a stirring performance by Poland.
Earlier the Czechs scored twice in less than 6 minutes to win the match against a rather passive Greeks. BTW, my favourite moment of the match was the fall of the referee.
All the teams in Group A are still alive for qualifying to the knockout stages:

Miguel now you'll have to eat two whole chickens.
BTW, the resilient Vikings almost gave me a heart attack by their never-die stance. Thanks to the Cape Verdean substitute (who rocketed that ball past the Dane keeper) victory was sealed for Portugal; and as for Ronaldo all I can say is that he's under a jinx.
Next prediction: Holland is out of the Championship.

Thank you, NGC: a tandoori chicken is on the way!!!! Your english is so elaborated that you are almost the only one at Woophy who makes me look at the dictionary (I bet you already lived in England!)! Yes, jinx! Maybe he's saving some goals for someone else ... Oh, I don't think you're right in your next prediction! Let's see...

Half-time, and the hapless Dutch are trailing by 2 goals. I have my fingers crossed, the Kaizer onslaught will continue.
PS: Thanks for the complement, and that too coming from a teacher by profession.
No, Miguel, never lived in England (now that makes 3 tandoori chickens for you to gulp down). However, did visit the country long ago in a summer school exchange programme.

Over (and) almost out. All over the Germans won well deserved. A club team of 7 + virtual Champions League winners from Münich were in advantage . But who the hell lets people play top soccer in these temperatures?? Our coach chose his son in law of 35 years (van Bommel) and at half time he came to his senses and changed the line up as the whole of Holland wanted him to do from the very first kick. My analysis from before the tournament was pretty good. Not sufficient and fast supply from the back and not enough support for the attack as well. Still I believe Holland is one of the best teams in Europe This group is the strongest of them all. Mind my forecast at the start: Spain and Germany on 1 and 2.

Oops, nothing decided yet in Group B! Only mathematical facts: - if Holland goes through, it means it will be with Germany. - Holland.1-0.Portugal will never be enough for the dutch. - Portugal and Denmark will go through with both winning 1-0 last matches (the most unbelievable but possible situation). - even losing 1-0 against Holland, Portugal will go through with a german winning over danish by the same result. - a draw in both last matches, whatever the numbers, means Germany and Portugal going through. I agree with almost every statement from Jan: "Not sufficient and fast supply from the back and not enough support for the attack as well." "Still I believe Holland is one of the best teams in Europe ". "Our coach chose his son in law of 35 years (van Bommel) and at half time he came to his senses ". I only disagree and don't understand the complaint about the temperature that was equal to both teams and is far from being unusual, also for the most of the players who are used to play in Spain (much higher temp!) and in other hotter places. Now, let's see next matches of Spain, France, Russia and Italy! They will be very interesting indeed! NGC, the chicken was a marvel! What a cooker I'm turning

There's still hope for the Dutch albeit the faintest one.

All the Dutch now have to do is win the Portugal match by at least a difference of 3 goals and hope the Danes lose to Germany.
PS: Do correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, you're wrong, NGC 2-0 is enough for Holland if Denmark loses against Germany! (please read my maths above )

Miguel, the Holland system flourishes in moderate temperatures. The Danes chose to play the waiting game and yes the physical condition of the younger Germans is better than that of the Dutch. Are the temperatures in Spain above 30C ?? BTW: Only Affelay plays in Spain, if he is fit. Holland played well in South Africa below 20C. I had no expectations so I am not too much disappointed. BTW: Narrow escape of Portugal and yes Holland has to win by 2-0!

Jan, I agreed with your analysis, still only don't go on agreeing with the temperature matter. It was the same temperature for both sides. Besides, many others could complain, that way, saying temp. is too low at 29ºC. Yes, in Spain you play many matches above 29ºC, as here, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Ukraine, Brazil, etc.,etc. For me there's never any excuses about temperatures as both teams have to face it! And, indeed, Germany and Holland I guess have similar temp. in their football matches. But you made me smile with your "BTW" about who plays in higher temp., like Spain. As far as I remember by heart, the following dutch players know what's playing ih high temp. (in Spain): Afellay, nowadays, but also, so recently, Heitinga, Boulahrouz, Bommel, Sneijder, Robben, Van der Vaart, Huntelaar, at least!
