As Zoidberg, when I entered in woophy, you had become one of my favourites photographers. Since that moment till now, I can humbly say that it are in my walk when I look pictures to comment and rate.
In the middle of this, I had the satisfaction of knowing you in presence (Woophy Meeting, Aveiro, 2009) in unusual circumstances of your health - the first view of Jan was in hotel, in bed, suffering with a kidney problem. I thought then: "terrific moment to say how I apppreciate his work."
And why I appreciate? You a secure photographer, knowing well you are doing, choosing your best images and carefully editing them. You transmit security in taking pics. Following everyday your work, I saw: quality at first; classical choices in landscapes editions (the first jobs I saw belong to your windmill series); care; great use of light; good composition; communication of degrees in reality, truth (guarantee of real) with inspiration; document and beauty.
Suddenly, I watched some changes. You are showing increased courage and you presented some images like1. 1. 1. 2, 1. 3... Something more invisible, hidden, subjective is appearing - "something that cannot be objectively registered and photographed, something that only art, only subjectivity of the artist can reveal ", as said Boris Groys in PhotoEs 2009 in his conference "The Place of Photography". The sense of humour, the attempt of running away from ordinary images, the eyes´s artistry were ascending with the same human attitude, without a grain of vanity ( this one an example for some members...). The curiosity, the capacity of generate images, the healthy and arty gesture are growing. I hope you follow this defiance!
For all I said, I liKe Jan´s pictures. And I think: it is a risk to pass judgements here. This is the reason I read this topic forum carefully and I only had written two critics- what is good for some guys is not good for others... At end: some of us will be abble to make so enphatic judegments.?... Do we know and understand all meanings and technical skills and purposes/aims of this imagetic and new discursive place?...

I think the landscape are beautifull and pictures with people some how you make me smile when i look at them will be hard to chose a teacher in here

I am speechless at the same time ashamed that I have enjoyed your collection not earlier.
The impressions which remain, when I look at your pictures are the powerful striking colors. The windmills as a recurring central theme please me very much. Also other subjects such as landscapes, animals, people from foreign countries, objects, and your home country in its various manifestations are brought to us very close.
Your Night  , and snow scenes  are very successful. But even subtle, veiled lights are strong   .
Animal photographs made in a humorous way with the best recording techniques. 
Your presence and love for Nature shows the image 
Beautiful to look at and dream your landscape shots whether hot  or cold  , whether wet  or dry  .
Some comments on your selected photos.
1.1. This facial expressions, gestures, simply great captured. A picture that makes it difficult to get away.
1.3. The photograph photographed shows us interesting and amusing situations.
1.6. Without text the picture shows us the old man´s movement problems. I like the fine balanced brown tones.
A bit more space on the top and the bottom of the picture would have been great.
2.1 Clear and strong color. I had the camera a bit more tilted to the right. The vessel on the left side bothers me a little.
2.5 The image spreads a lot of tranquility. Very successful composition.
3.4 Scintillating joy of living fully brought into the picture.
3.6 Jan´s humour and his photographing talent added together give a fantastic result !
Jan, I have put only a few additions, it was already difficult to add those little "improvements" as your collection has a very high quality and given me great pleasure. Thank you very much and keep joy in photography.

Jan, when I started in my woophy I was straight away attracted to your pictures .The way you photograph the dutch landscapes,canals etc. are perfect ,your pictures have a very high quality! Thank you, Elene

I really enjoyed looking ones more all your pictures, I'm a fan of them!
My most favorite of your portraits: 
I'm touched by this old man, his wrinkles, his eyes, his kindness, because you portraited him so great!
I don't know about technics yet.But I like the way you use light, that creates a great atmosphere and marvelous colours, in your landscapes most of all! They give me a good feeling, thanks for that!
Sorry I don't have any critics, maybe only about the pictures you chose...

Hi Jan,
I try to say the i look at pictures and i ment like i said before great i would like to have a teacher like that
1. This theatre ceene is brilliant specialy with the catch of light and the right expression of his face.
2. I wish i could hear what they talk about and why she sits outside
3. Great moment cant be more perfect
4. They are oposites but both busy with things you should not do outside at such relaxing spot great catch
5. Light composition and colors perfect
6. Was he waiting or going? the ground colors makes is simple and perfect
7. This one doesn't goes touchy my heart but good photo
8. Great Dutch view great reflection
9. Great i looks like black and white with color boat but this time i do know its not its just great
10.Good composition and this makes me wanna go to a market (was there one)
11 simply must love this view makes me wanna go there
12. Ok and after 11 i go to 12 Wonderfull I love the way you know where there can be people in i always think in mine they do disturb in a way but not in yours great
13. I see smoke i wanna smell what they make and find out how it taste
14. Great shot can almost feel the tention
15. Its a great picture and i do make them and i still can say i am trilled (it feels still dead old and un used )
16. love the fun in this picture and the bubbles
17. Nice composition and bright colors 1 side
18. ok he carries something you dont see all days but not my style
I saw sniff sniff some cross instead of pictures dont know2 where they went
perfect i just love 99,9 youre style and knowledge

1. I love it right time right position and expression
2. Would love to know what they are seying great shot
3. This is a perfect timing great wonderfull shot

5. Not my style but still wanna know what he is thinking great
