Hello Scott,
the problem you showed with this image is the White Balance. As I can see you shot this picture inside a home or building. I think you had your camera white balance on Automatic. This is a problem of many camera's. In auto mode the camera decides what the white balance is. You can better select the white balance yourself to set your camera on "light bulb" (look at your manual) , that is mostly the best setting. But even better is shooting RAW then you can decide afterwards what setting is the best.
I edited your picture by playing with the "temperature" and the "tint". I think this is possible in the most photoediting programms.
I played with "hue/saturation" to give the green a extra boost because that is the major thing of the picture. Then I used a filter "Unsharp mask" and finally I resized the picture and cropped a little and placed a back border to highlight the image.
I hope you find this useful and good luck practicing !
Regards,
Oscar

Yes, I agree completely with Oscar. Only I would add that you can do all these things that he suggested with a good program like Photoshop (this would be the best), but if you are a begginer you can download for free "Picasa" and have a good and easy approach to photo edition...
Good luck!
@Oscar: Good job!!

Thank you so much, I'll sit down and take a good look at what I can and can't do with my camera . The editing you did is great, it's like a totally different photo.
