Dear friends,
When we review a picture of another member we say: " I would crop", " I would add more contrast", etc, etc. Why not upload the result of our opinion? This way the member could judge and argue that opinion. This has been done already, but not in a permanent way. Woophy software is not prepared to have that kind of workshop: we must upload a photo like if it was of our own, which is not the best way to do it. But, although knowing this may be very hard to achieve, I hope Woophy can adress this issue, and solve it, like other sites did.

Today I am uploading a beautiful photo by Serge Tardiff, modified to meet my opinion. The general idea is that Serge, or any other member, discuss my version, or upload their own version. I think that this way we could learn much more.

(original by Serge Tardiff-left side) (Coutinho version-right side)

In this picture I think the left side adds no value to the image. So I cropped it, keeping the size relation. Furthermore centering the couple adds more interest to the picture

Pour Serge:
Je m´excuse d´ecrire en anglais, mais je crois que tu entendras. Donne mois ton opinion de ma version.

Would be nice to have other versions, other opinions. Woophy can be that too!

My warmest regards
Coutinho

Hi Coutinho !

What you are saying its true, Woophy is not prepared to receive "corrections" or opinions of a pictures but It could be a great option.

Anyway, you can put a picture in the forum without uploading it to Woophy, having the advantage of not being rated or commented in Woophy but the comments can be received in the post, I mean in the forum.

Here you can read how to use a picture without uplioading it to Woophy.

Greetings !

Hello Coutinho and Marcos, I agree totally with the proposal, this way a part of the forums of Woophy would become a learning school where we all can learn of all. I hope those that make the page consider this proposal that I find very good.
Greetings
Ricardo

I appreciate the "correction", but prefer the original. By placing the horizon in the middle the "correction" IMO suggests a kind of tsunami rolling to the children. Dramatic but a bit odd. The original gives me a tender feeling of children looking out over the sea, while the "correction" triggers a kind of panic feeling with me. But I like the initiative that triggered me to respond like this. Let's continue with this.

Dear friends
Thanks a lot for for your response.
I understand that apart from posting and sharing pictures we could learn how to make them better. And each one of us has something to teach. And I want to learn.
@Fred: That´s why. Thanks for your "correction" to the "correction". I will answer later today.
Cheers to all.

Marcos... don't take the hair... you know that I don't know anything about English and I should appeal to a translator online! ;-)
Returning to the forum topic, I believe that it would be very necessary a more direct feedback with the author that inserting an orderly picture to comment it
Greetings !

I like this topic, Coutinho.
At first I thought your version of Serge Tardiff's photo was better, but after what fred snijders said, I thought... well,he's right, this way it DOES look a bit like a tsunami...
Just one minor thing, Fred: I think the young men on the pic don't like to be called "children"... ;-) lol
But as I said, very nice topic, and I hope this way I can learn some more about taking pics (or adjusting them)!

Hi Cuotinho, great topic!
One thing that I always try to keep in mind that when i crop, I don't constrain myself to keeping the same aspect ratio for the photo. In other words, if a photo originally has a 3:2 aspect ratio, then I may crop it square, 2:2, or crop it long, 4:2, but I would hardly ever crop it so that it ended up with 3:2 again. In the example you provided, I would have perhaps cropped out the left-hand side, ending up with a photo that would be narrower than the original, but would keep the horizon where it is. Your suggestion has horizontal and vertical symmetry, which is much too symmetric for my taste!

I am completely in accordance with fred snijders ... in this kind of images my sense of composition don't let me put the horizon just in the middle ... I think that the sensation of the immensity is lost.

As a new member, I must say that I like this idea, as I am always seeking constructive criticism/ suggestions and ideas on how I might change and/or improve my pics. Often, I recieve ratings with no comments and/or suggestions. Actually, I rarely get suggestions on how I might improve my photos. But when I do, then I am thrilled!

I think the idea of creating an open forum for this topic, is a great idea! It provides a wonderful opportunity for those that wish to learn, as well as those that are willing to teach. Also a good opportunity for some friendly debates! :-)

Oh! And I think that Coutino was very brave & intellegent, by opening this new idea with a proposal/idea of one photo that he made chages to. (I've no doubt that he suspected that there would also be suggestions and/or criticisms of that "beautiful photo" after his adjustments.

I am all for it!

I agree with Fred, in composition, I think the interesting part of the picture is the sky, so its better to put the horizon in the down part, this way the sky haves more space and importance in the picture. Also I think the composition of the original picture is great.

I, to that picture see this way it, a little less than sky but not so much..., everything is question of the color of the glass through which looks at you...
I find that this is already working, he/she would only be necessary to be able to put the pictures directly here without going to place them first in the personal place.
Greetings to all.

Great idea guys, constructive criticism is very stimulating. I have never been interested in the ratings game.
@ Coutinho's version of the Serge Tardiff pic. Yes, I also find the horizon too high and a bit overpowering. Good pic though.
What's next?

@Fred, Paulo and Vahephoto
I have to agree with you, but the majority of my photos are made to be printed on the standard 15x20 paper. Of course this is not always possible.
@Ricardo
That´s the spirit, but for better understanding you should insert the original image side by side with your version
@all
Thank you for participating. Doing that Woophy will go better and better.

@Couthinho, this is a great topic,I often get advise how to improve a picture but since I am rather an ignorant about a lot of phototechniques, I often don't know how to do it.
This picture got as advise, less light, but what I tried, it never improved.So could you help me?
greetings Giz

Thanks for your confidence in my capacity to do what you want. This is a great photo indeed, and I agree with that advice.
I will post a new topic so that other members may also try to do the job.
Cheers

Congratulations "Coutinho" for the idea… are always good to see other points of view, other perspectives… in my work always thankful a “evaluation”, will be able to agree or not… but I reflect on it!
