I think the correct English term for 'goede voornemens' (Dutch) is 'resolutions'. Sounds like a difficult theme for a competition.
If a theme such as 'autumn' or 'spring' is open to older pictures as well, the down-under problem can also be avoided. If it will be some kind of special theme that requires organized shooting I hope the analog shooters (such as me) won't be facing a very strict deadline: 'we' need a bit more time for developing and scanning;-)

Wilfred,
First of all tnx for the translation. Even if the 'spring' and 'autumn' competition is open for older picture we've still got a downunder problem; where to puplish them the goal for 2006 is to create a calendar with a contest, with a special theme, for every month. so in january 2006 we have a contest for the calendar page of january 2007.
maybe 'seasons' or 'four seasons' could be one of the themes. I think four seasons at the end of the year will create a kind of organized shooting theme (I'll put it on the list).
i think the deadlines need to be strict but the themes need to be published early so analog shooters have enough time to develp and scan their contribution.

thanks for all your great ideas. We are thinking of putting all your input together in a competition which has the theme. 'A cross section of life on earth in 12 months'. So that we have a nice overview of ordinary life on our planet after the competition ends.
I am sure we will use some of the proposed themes.
thanks again

Well, I'm located in the Southern Hemisphere, so it looks different for me and a lot of people. This is my suggestion.
January: goede voornemens ("good intentions") OR January: new year - new born live (people / animal / flowers)
February: winter time ......................... SUMMER TIME
March: happy live / enjoy living .......... BACK TO SCHOOL AND WORK AFTER HOLLIDAY
april: city live ...................................... OUTDOOR EVENT
May: spring ........................................ AUTUMN
June: Summertime .............................. WINTER TIME
July: outdoor event ............................ HAPPY LIVE / ENJOY LIVING
August: holliday / vacation feelings ... CITY LIVE
September: living in the country site .. LIVING IN THE COUNTRY SITE
October: autumn ............................... SPRING TIME
Noveber: Inside youre home OR Front doors .... INSIDE YOURE HOME OR FRONT DOORS
December: Christmas ......................................... CHRISTMAS

Being a calendar collector for 30 years I can tell you that a 12 months calendar should be based on one theme, as wide as one chooses, but one theme. If the calendar will be based on 12 themes, it will be a collection of photos with a calendarium, but not a calendar in it's original meaning.
So, my idea is to decide on a theme or few and request the members to send their photos on this/those themes. The 12 best shots of each theme will hold a 12 months calendar. Thus we'll be able to produce / propose few calendars, each on a certain theme.
The order of the photos along the months can follow the seasons of the year and thus, a 'window' photo with snow, for instance, will fit December while a window with flowers will fit June. I hope I've contributed something to this debate.
Happy New Year!

I like Carlas idea about "dare to be different".
Avoid Seasons! Every calender has it, "dare to be different" :-)

now i'd like to post a picture with best wishes for a happy christmas and a good start into the new year. kind regards..."
