Ideas for New Photo Competition
From Carla Broekhuizen we got the suggestion to organise a new competition based on a specific theme or assignment. She suggested to submit photo’s which are all shot on the same time (e.g. January 1st 12.00h). Thus creating a snapshot of the world at a certain time.
We are also thinking about new competitions. Smaller and more frequent then the last one.
One idea is the ‘Me casa es su casa’ or ‘My Home is my castle’. Share pictures of your house with other members of Woophy.
Some nice examples
By having this smaller thematic competitions we can make some very nice picture collections each portraying one aspect of our global culture.
We are of course very curious what you think of this and if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Hello Joris, is there a new photo contest ? What are the results of the first one and where can we see the winning images ?
Does the second contest have a special theme ?
Thank you

It will take us a week or so to write the jury report and put the winning photo's online

Thank you for the prompt answer. The update of your first post answers my second question.

Nice idea! I started missing the daily 'hall of fame' of pictures for the photo contest already, so I was also wondering if there would be a new contest. Anyway, I like the 'same time all over the world' idea mentioned above.

Both ideas are good. However, it will be difficult for all of us to take a picture on Jan 1, 2006 at noon but let's make it approximately noon. As for our homes, some may live in castles but some in more modest flats, so let's not make it a matter of levels. Perhaps we can settle about our front door and/or our window. Or maybe our door sign (the name on our door or door bell)?

The frontdoor chalenge of alex sounds nice. anly a frontdoor is a bit of a boring object, what could we do to make it a bit more interesting ???
The time contest is nice but the woophy database should have a shot-date/time field for this (@Joris & Marcel, is this posible?)

Mentioning TIME brings me an idea for a new contest theme:
Photographing time clocks in your area, in your town, city, village, and if you don't know of any, try to capture a clock in a public place or even at your home. Ancient clocks or new ones…
I have just seen an interesting book about clock towers in Israel, and there are not many, while in Europe it is more common. So, go and shoot them.

@alex: and finaly get 720 (12*60) difrent photos and make a woophy clock !!!
New idea: have 12 contest in 2006, every month one, theme of the contest is that month, after a year you can make a calender of them....

Ik denk dat je goede voornemens kunt vertalen in "good intentions"

The front door suggestions of Alex Ringer is a good idea. Last July I already took a picture of my front door and the at that time new-made 'vertical garden'. Maybe this garden will have blossoms in June next year.... I will let you know [img]11211[/img
Other themes on the list Carla and ConradM suggested could be:
January: new year - new born live (people / animal / flowers)
February : winter time
March : happy live / enjoy living
april : city live
August: holliday / vacation feelings
September: living in the country site
