The jury had the difficult task to choose between obviously very good and beautiful pictures and pictures with a sharper edge. We decided to go for the sharp edge. In Sindy Rheaume's picture we see a well fed and well tanned pensionado at the Brighton Beach. An unusual and funny composition that is just very happy at first glance. At second glance it makes you wonder, aren’t we too spoilt here in the west? Do we have too little to do and too much to eat.
Congratulations Sindy you have won the book 'Marco Polo: A Photographer's Journey' by Michael Yamashita. The honourable mentions go to Claude Kempf for his boring camping, Paulo Calafate for his Portuguese beach shower and Coutinho for his colourful umbrellas.
